Colour

Our colours are children of nature.
We work with the wood and with natural pigments
to create your desired colour tone.

The range of natural
pigments is endlessly diverse.

Over decades of research we have found unique ways of transferring the colours of nature to wood. Our colours have grown in plants or minerals. They harmonise with the colouration of the wood, developing the finest nuances, changing over time. In complex recipes requiring numerous production steps we adapt the original wood colour to the individual colour requirements of our customer.

“We refine nature and we know how to create a harmonious and exciting colour effect on wood surfaces, fully meeting individual customer requirements. Keeping things natural does not limit the selection of colours. Natural pigments offer endless variety.”

A colour selection in oak

Soft stone colours stand alongside stronger grey shades,
restrained browns alongside powerful earth tones:
Pebble Stone, Oyster, Linen, Smoke und Mocha
are the colour families in our Oak Edition 21.

Pebble Stone

Cool, bright & fresh

The colour spectrum of a rocky riverbed reveals that grey itself has many gradients. To achieve these slight graduations of tone in oak, we gently lighten the grain. Depending on the veneer pattern, the rivulets of white pigment contrast against the hue of the wood with varying intensity.

Oyster

Dynamic, vivid & characterful

On a single oyster shell, greys and browns of sand, silt, and sediment play with delicate pastel shades in a small space. Within our colour family, we echo this contrasting interplay between the striking partially-applied white pigments and the original hue of the oak.

Linen

Discreet, modest & quiet

When a summer breeze gently sways through fields of dried flax grasses, splashes of gold and scorched brown dance in the sunlight. As with the light linen fabric made from these fibres, the subtle colours in this grouping are soft and low-contrast.

Smoke

Earthly, natural & balanced

Our muted sand and earth tones capture the quiet comfort of the natural world. A finely graduated smoke colouring of the oak wood creates clear and original shades. The colour variance is influenced by the wood’s own chemistry.

Mocha

Classic, strong & warm

Simply the sight of a freshly brewed coffee invigorates. Our richest, most roasted browns are gathered in this colour family. There is a caramelised warmth throughout, with few contrasts. A lighter pigmentation enhances the natural oak colour. For intensity, we activate the wood’s own ingredients.

“I am constantly developing new recipes for my colour library, probably the biggest in the world. In addition, I am researching to find new and better methods to make our products even more durable and have them retain their value even longer.”

Torben Hansen, Company Founder and Managing Director

Our surfaces:
aesthetic, robust, durable.

Nature is our template.
As they change with time, natural materials demonstrate a rich range of colours.

Nature is our template.

Nature is the source of inspiration for our colour tones. Our colours can be introduced into the wood through a complex, multistep colouring process involving smoking, deep cleaning and the use of natural essences. Pigments penetrate deep into the pores of the wood which creates an incomparable effect on the surface. An effect which endures. That is what sets it apart from purely surface applied colours.

We create your colour.
We will find your colour together.

We create your colour.

If the right colour tone for your project is not already in our collection, we will find it together. If you already have a sense of the colour direction or material with which the wood colour should fit, we will generate the appropriate colour tone in wood. And what’s special about this: colouring the wood is based exclusively on natural processes and pigments worked deep into the wood. The original colour tone of the wood is matched to your desired tone in complex recipes and work steps.

The colour is in the wood.

The colour is in the wood.

The characteristics and composition of the wood are critical to the colour impression and colouration of the surface. These depend on the location of the tree, its genetics, the growing region and growth period as well as the nutrient content of the soil. The environmental influences that have affected the tree over the course of its life influence the grain of the veneer.

We make use of the natural potential.
Appropriate pre-treatment ensures stability of colour.

We make use of the natural potential.

By using an appropriate pre-treatment, the wood becomes more resistant to staining and the colour tone more stable. This approach retains the beneficial features of the wood: warmth, elasticity, and vapour permeability. One way of regulating the indoor climate.

“Each of our colours is permanently locked into the pure wood."
