Schotten & Hansen x PLUCK Kitchens at Clerkenwell Design Week 2025

This year, we at Schotten & Hansen had the honour of showcasing our materials and craftsmanship in the atmospheric setting of St James’s Church – as part of an inspiring collaboration with British kitchen designers Pluck.

Clerkenwell Design Week is one of the most important events in the British design calendar – a space where craftsmanship, innovation, and creative collaboration come together. As always at Clerkenwell Design Week, we had many inspiring conversations – filled with curiosity, expertise, and enthusiasm.

At the center was our naturally pigmented Douglas fir veneer, which merged in a distinctive way with Pluck’s striking design approach. In our in-house laboratory in Bavaria, we developed four new shades for this purpose—drawn from nature and perfectly aligned with Pluck’s characteristic colour palette: Camargue Rose, Kadoorie Green, Churchhaven Blue and Petra.

A Collaboration That Felt Natural

At Schotten & Hansen, our work begins with a deep respect for wood — its character, its natural evolution, and its subtle interplay of texture and colour. Collaborations become meaningful when they are built on shared values, and our partnership with Pluck was exactly that. Pluck’s passion for handcrafted kitchen furniture and their bold approach to combining wood and colour resonated deeply with us. As our CEO Bernard Heinloth put it:

“Pluck’s enthusiasm for pairing wood with colour through their artisanal kitchen design truly spoke to us. As pioneers in natural wood surfaces and pigmentation, we’re delighted by the beautiful results — a demonstration of how wood can retain its inherent beauty, even when combined with unexpected colours.”

With expansive, uninterrupted planes of timber, Pluck’s cabinetry places the swirling grain and tonal variations of our Douglas Fir veneers at centre stage — a design language that celebrates both innovation and authenticity.

“We’ve spent years studying how wood changes colour in nature. Translating this into design with Pluck — to create furniture that feels like art — has been a truly rewarding process.” »
