We translate this vision into wood surfaces that unite material integrity with precise colour expression. The foundation of this process is the NCS System. With a colour system like NCS harmonious colour combinations can be found, bringing systematic order to the infinite number of possible colour pairings.
NCS – Natural Colour System®,
It is a cross-industry colour system used worldwide for colour communication between designers, architects, and clients. It is based on how we perceive colours visually. The NCS system makes it possible to develop customised colour shades that highlight the material and integrate seamlessly into the overall design of a project.
From the NCS system, we have selected the most beautiful and harmonious nuances and applied them to our wood. This creates colours that are clearly distinguishable in perception, yet can be presented in a harmonious way.
Before, we talked about colour like ‘a bit more yellow’ or ‘a cooler pink.’ It was frustrating, and you started to lose trust in your own judgment. I think NCS is the most fantastic language you can get. It is a way to communicate.
Our Colour Finder
The Colour Finder was developed to harmoniously connect our wood products with their surroundings. It first organises colours into families such as red or yellow, and then differentiates by nuance – from lightness and darkness to colour intensity. This helps you find the perfect colour match for your key design elements such as stone, fabric, or other materials. The Colour Finder thus supports you not only in selecting individual tones, but also in creating well-thought-out and coherent colour schemes.
Creating harmony through countless colour combinations
Our 11 colour worlds in Terra & Mineral – graded in 5 intensities – allow for the creation of versatile colour schemes. Using the NCS x Schotten & Hansen colour fan, harmonious surfaces can be selected, marking our first departure from the usual brown and yellow wood tones.
