Overall 500 square meters of wooden surfaces by Schotten & Hansen were installed as interior elements in ten-year-old sailing yacht "G2". Interior designer Massimo Gino from Nauta Design (Milano, Italy) succeeded in bringing the brightness below deck, which was desired by the new yacht owner. For this he set on wooden surfaces in the colour pebble stone and a harmonious lighting concept.
Apart from the contemporary, clear design, the focus during the refit was placed on using lightweight material that meets the latest technical and ecological standards. According to the designer's specifications, the Upper Bavarian manufactory processed the finest, knot-free and straight-grown oak wood for the lightweight material. As the surface is already prefinished – i.e. pigments, resins, waxes and oils have been worked into the wood for colouring and protection - the material could be installed directly by the Dutch yacht interior builder Ruiter Quality Interiors at the Pendennis Shipyard (Falmouth, UK).
After the final care by the experts from Schotten & Hansen, the wooden surfaces are ready for use on the high seas. The jury was impressed by the result of the almost one-year refit - and awarded the annual Superyacht Award in the category "Best Refitted Yachts" to the luxury yacht "G2" in 2019.
