Veneer is a layer of wood "sliced" from the trunk using machinery, which is glued and pressed onto other, often more reasonably priced, solid wood or derived timber product panels. One distinguishes between veneers according to the type of manufacture e.g. sawn veneer and application e.g. outer ply.
